Saturn Return Publishing

Saturn Returns Publishing is seeking submissions for an anthology of Pagan fiction.

Modern Mythology: New Stories Of the Gods is a collection of shorts telling the stories of the Gods and Goddesses from new and unique perspectives. Olympus in Space? Asgard in Manhattan? Abydos the seat of computer commerce? Taking the myths and figures of mythologies from around the world, Pagan authors take a twist and tell these stories in an entirely different light. Early April Update

time management quoteAs 2017 progresses into the 4th month, we at Saturn Returns Publishing are working towards further expansion of our offerings to readers and authors alike. Working towards that kind of expansion is a real juggling act. As the picture to the left implies, time management is of the utmost importance, but is a misnomer. Prioritizing projects and commitments is more important. Our authors and their projects come first on our list of priorities. We must balance them with growing and expanding our catalog. A Fool & His Writing: an April Fools’ Day Author Takeover

Backfire Pre-Order.pngWe’re less than a week away from the official launch of Philipp J. Kessler’s first novella from SRP. Philipp will be hosting a short author takeover and release party on Facebook on April 1st to celebrate. You are all invited to join in the fun. There will be games, giveaways, and LOTS of author talk throughout the evening.

Here’s a little teaser to get you going:

Sandra opened the window a crack to let a bit of fresh air into the room. The incense smoke swirled in the breeze as it was sucked out the window. As the air cleared she blinked the smoke from her own eyes.

“Well that sucked,” she muttered under her breath. “Back to square one.” She pushed her hair away from her forehead, brushing the sweat away from her brow.

She looked about the now smoke free room and sighed. Picking up the athame she began to put her ritual and spell tools away. Sandra put each tool into its place in the box she pulled out from under the altar table. The wand, the incense burner, and the athame each had a special compartment in the ornately carved oak box. As she put the pentacle plate and the bowl into their pouches she gazed into her own reflection in the blade of the boline. Continue reading

Backfire on pre-order

Backfire1We are thrilled to announce that Backfire is now available for pre-order on Amazon Kindle. We’re so excited! Can you tell?

Backfire was started in February of 2016, Philipp tabled it indefinitely because of his bills-paying-job taking up so much of his time. Situations change and time appeared in abundance. He decided to take that time and turn this “failed attempt” at a short story into something. He had set out to write approximately 10k words, but before he knew it things had blown into over 30k! Not quite a novel, but good enough.

Some might say that he is putting the cart before the horse, but Philipp went ahead and got the manuscript up on Kindle today. While he was there he decided to make it available as a print-on-demand. If you prefer your books to be actually paper and ink, the print edition of Backfire should be available by April 1, 2017 for your ordering and reading pleasure.

Philipp is also having a release party and author takeover on Facebook. Please check out the link and attend if you can. There will be all kinds of games and giveaways. Several other authors are participating in the takeover. Should prove to be a lot of fun for everyone!

The Written Activist, cover reveal

The Written Activist.pngThough The Written activist is not due out until around the first of the year, RevKess has released his cover design to Saturn Returns Publishing. The Written Activist is a collection of articles, essays and poems by RevKess himself. RevKess is an activist of both the Pagan and LGBTQIA-etc communities. He has hosted radio and podcast programs that address the issues that are important to both communities, frequently with overlap.

RevKess has written for multiple websites and blogs over the years. Including several that have gone fallow, some of which might return in the near future. He has written for Pagan Activist, Hail Columbia!, the Pagan Newswire Collective (their music page), Off the Beaten Path (currently offline), and other sites. He has been quoted on The Wild Hunt more than once.

RevKess is also one of the voices of the Pagan-Musings Podcast Channel. As program manager and head of music acquisitions for the channel, he fills multiple rolls on the channel. He cohosts the main show, Pagan-Musings, and the weekly news program, Pagan Weekly News, with his friend KaliSara. He hosts Musica Pagani on the channel as well. As Phil, he co-hosts Murphy’s Magic Mess and Lavender Hill on KZUM-Lincoln/KZUM-HD in Lincoln, NE. The Mess is the world’s oldest and longest running Pagan content program on the airwaves and the Hill is the only LGBTQIA-etc news and talk program of its kind in the state of Nebraska.

The Written Activist is slated for a January 2018 release. Visit the Facebook page for updates on this and other projects that RevKess is involved in.

SRP Author does Wyrd West Takeover

Saturn Returns Publishing author Philipp J. Kessler is taking part in another author
takeover on Facebook
. The Wyrd West Chronicles are by friend of the publisher Diane Morrison, wyrd west imagealso known as Sable Aradia. Showdown is Diane’s first book in her series. Diane has ventured into the genre of the weird west, where steampunk meets western. You could view the old tv show Wild Wild West or the Will Smith movie of the same name as part of the weird west genre. Even Brisco County Jr that was on Fox in the 1990’s might qualify.

Philipp doesn’t write in this genre, but that’s not the point. An author takeover is meant to help indie authors get their names out there. Some takeovers are genre specific, like the LGBTQ erotica takeover that Josef Kastle did last weekend. Many are wide open, like the Pagan Fiction Authors takeover Philipp took part in at the last-minute Sunday night.

Friend of the publisher Sarah Buhrman, author of Too Wyrd and other books, has put together a fun little vlog that talks about author takeovers. She will also be presenting a workshop on that topic at this spring’s Nebraska Writers Guild conference.

Philipp will be doing Diane’s takeover at 3pm Pacific time (5pm Central) on Saturday the 18th. He looks forward to seeing you there!
